argyle Cream of the Crop 8,187 posts Likes: 24 Joined Apr 2007 Location: DFW, Texas More info | I wouldn't worry about following the 'rule of thirds'...this guideline always seems to get mentioned in critiques as a fallback (not that its wrong, just that its overrated as a compositional matter IMO). I'd do a square crop (or somewhat close to square), getting rid of the space on the left as well as the dog's body on the right...basically just keeping the dog's head centered. Since the primary focus seems to be the piercing eyes, a center-square crop would really highlight them and remove any distractions at the same time.
