Hi folks,

I'm looking for a small flash which would be around the same size as the Canon 270EX that has a fully tilting/swiveling head and all the same kind of features.

It will be on my Canon SX10 IS so really needs to be small so as not to be too heavy and awkward on it.

Have you any experience & recommendations for canon-fit "other brand" flash guns which would suit.

Thanks very much in advance for your help

Ian

Why not just use the 270EX. It's got the size, tilt, and features you're looking for.

Ah. Then a $20 off-camera shoe cord would probably be easier and less bulky than any bracket or modifier. Hold the camera in one hand, flash in the other hand and you can move it anywhere you want... raise it, bounce it, tilt it. Solves your portrait or landscape orientation issue, too.

Nope, it does tilt up, but doesn't swivel left/right, so in portrait mode you'd be bouncing off the wall.

I've got a Metz 24 AF-1 which is a rebranded OEM flash. It's quite nice though and way cheaper than the 270 EX II, about 1/3 of the price.

I'm using it on a G11.

Metz is a brand and a good one :), it doesn't swivel though, only tilts, just like 270ex.

Indeed, but it's not manufactured by Metz itself but probably by Tumax from Asia.

For my P&S I don't care about swiveling. It would be nice to have, but at 3x4 I can always crop a portrait from a landscape orientation without losing too much.
