Traveling the Texas Hill Country in search of bluebonnets, I spotted this guy. I couldn't get real close, but he stayed at his comfortable distance.

Great shots Stan, also with the environment! I saw my first of the season Scissor-tail on Friday. Scissor-tails are my favorite bird and it's always nice to see them posted.

Those are really lovely shots! We've had some migrate through here and I got a few POOR shots of them on phone lines. First time I saw one I didn't know what it was! Haven't seen one this year yet.

Wow, Stan... what lovely color combinations in these compositions... the habitat, BG, colors and tones are stunning, especially in that second shot... you may have to pick out a neat southwestern frame ;)

Nice catch Stan. That's quite a tail and true to its name.

Thanks, Brad. This was on Wed (3/30), and I saw another fly over as I was driving on Sat. Hoping to see more.

Thanks, Karen. I had only seen one before (in Florida), no chance for a photo.

Thank you, red. Have a look at Nature & Landscape for "Texas Wildflowers".

Just guessing, 8-9 inches.

Thanks, Don. It was a thrill to see it. At one point it flew toward me, banked to turn away and his tail separated. It was beautiful, but no chance to capture that action.

Wow, I can't believe I missed these! I don't think I've seen this bird before. And you captured it beautifully. Love the setting, and the colours are very very lovely. Excellent work, Stan.

Thanks a lot, Levina. We saw three more of these today while scoping out spots in the area we just came to yesterday (Abilene, Texas). Yet to see how the shots came out.
