All of 2011 so far has been 100% a case of feast or famine for me. Either I'm too busy to even get out with the camera (or, if I do get out, too busy to have time to process and post), or I'm doing something crazy like taking 100Gb worth of eagle photographs in Alaska.

This was definitely a feast. The vast majority of my shots were taken with the 70-200. Amazing place...

1. It really isn't an overstatement to say that eagles were literally dripping out of the trees...

IMAGE: http://photos.jgrussell.com/Birds/Alaska-2011/IMG6552/1237442487_jLfyL-O.jpg

2. ... and the rocks...

IMAGE: http://photos.jgrussell.com/Birds/Alaska-2011/IMG3629/1237435706_Etb88-O.jpg

3. ... and any available perch.

IMAGE: http://photos.jgrussell.com/Birds/Alaska-2011/IMG4818/1237329080_cth9x-O.jpg

4. Watching the eagles fly in all the different lighting conditions was fabulous.

IMAGE: http://photos.jgrussell.com/Birds/Alaska-2011/IMG6741/1238442889_tUNBR-O.jpg

5. Well, maybe not so much when it was snowing...

IMAGE: http://photos.jgrussell.com/Birds/Alaska-2011/IMG5922/1238660863_hFkNZ-O.jpg

6. Fortunately, the lighting was often quite wonderful...

IMAGE: http://photos.jgrussell.com/Birds/Alaska-2011/IMG9280/1237568682_P796V-O.jpg

7. ...even when the sky was almost white...

IMAGE: http://photos.jgrussell.com/Birds/Alaska-2011/IMG0950/1237661885_xH997-O.jpg

8. ... or when the sea was a very deep blue.

Judy, you outdid yourself with these. I've spent time in Alaska but didn't get shots like these. Great work, and great to see you posting again.
