Was wondering about this little add on for my 7D. Any recommendations or pro's and con's from users?

It is really helpful if you're shooting from a tripod doing manual focusing using live view. It's a worthy accessory for me. David | Flickr

It's held in place by any tripod QR plate, so it takes as long as it takes you to unscrew the plate. 1Dx, 1DM4, 5DM2, 7D, EOS-M, 8-15L, 17-40L, 24 TSE II, 24-105L, 50L, 85L II, 100L, 135L, 200L f/2.8, 300L f/4, 70-200L II, 70-300L, 400Lf/5.6

It is sandwich between the tripod QR and base of the camera. When I got mine it came with 2 holding plates, one designed for the 7d and one for the 5D Mark II. I have haven't tried sandwiching it between a battery grip and the body, but I think it will prevent the grip from connecting electrically. ohhh....great info. I have mine gripped....so that would pose a problem. good thing i am working enough hours not to jump the gun on this purchase! Bill

You don't normally use a grip with loupe, I wouldn't normally video in portrait mode. 1Dx, 1DM4, 5DM2, 7D, EOS-M, 8-15L, 17-40L, 24 TSE II, 24-105L, 50L, 85L II, 100L, 135L, 200L f/2.8, 300L f/4, 70-200L II, 70-300L, 400Lf/5.6

Might need to wait and save a tad more for this. Makes sense though. I like my grip and mainly use it for battery storage and comfort. I would not shoot video in portrait either. Bill
