3 images below of my wife in no particular order, original, lightroom and photoshop, which is best and can you tell which is which?

Original is number 2, LR 1 & PS 3?

1st is best I think, followed by second and then third. Didn't like the skin blurring on the 3rd.

Second is original. I think first is ps, and third is lr. There is alot of blurring in number three in the skin detail, and the detail is better pserved in number one, so I am thinking clarity/skin smoothing.

I like number 1, best guess.... 1 lightroom, 2 original, 3 ps.

I agree that #2 is the original image. If you did your job right we should not be able to tell the others are a particular program....

My untrained eye guess:

1 = LR (I voted as the best)
2 = Original (moles/dark spots present on neck and cheek)
3 = Photoshop (the skin looks smooth/softened)

Just my guess.

You're all right in that 2 is the original...

Looks like my photoshop skills need improving! lol, stick to LR me thinks

1 is LR
3 is PS

I don't really dig the smoothing myself, are there other methods I could try where I don't lose skin detail in photoshop?

The fact that her left eye is out of focus is very distracting, considering the amount of detail and color in her irises. I'm guessing you were going for a shallow DoF, but across the face DoF falloff is not working for me. Instead of focusing on the left cheek, maybe try focusing on the bridge of the nose if you still want that shallow of DoF. Also - the umbrella reflection takes out the entire pupil with the model facing directly into the umbrella. Maybe try some variations with the model facing more toward or away from the camera with the same set-up, to manipulate the light modeling and placement of the umbrella catchlight. Processing-wise 1 is more natural than 3.

Yay! Winner, winner, chicken dinner... lucky guesser. Heh.

1 and 3 are real close. PS skin softening is overdone on magazine covers and prints, but that's normal I guess. I like how 1 is "not too much" you know, so that's why I thought it was LR.

Now that it's been mentioned... the portrait would be much better if BOTH eyes were sharp and in focus. Time to schedule a re-shoot.
