How can I control the aperture on my camera in movie mode? It changes with respect to lens but no control seems available for manual control.

Help? The shallow DOF is killing my movies.

This video I made while I had a T1i shows the "unlock and twist" method. One step was inadvertantly left out so be sure and read the description underneath the video frame.

On the T1i in video mode aperture is the only parameter you can control manually and that only by this workaround. ND filters can be used if further control is needed.

From that vimeo page you can also find and watch a demo of an adapted NIkkor lens.

Best advice I can offer is to sell the T1i and apply the funds towards a T2i or even T3i. Those offer full manual control over aperture, shutter, and ISO in video mode.

Wow, I am still in the window to return it so I think I will just do that.

I can't believe the lack of these controls is not more widely discussed. Mostly all I heard about when buying it was the remote mic availability.
