For a while I wished for a DSLR with a circular sensor. No more rotating the camera. Just shoot and crop / rotate in post processing.

Alas, nobody makes one. Then it hit me - you can do it with existing stuff.

Use a 5D Mk II coupled with a non-Canon crop-sensor lens. You get a round image. In PP, crop and rotate it as you wish.

What do ya think? Cool idea, ea? I knew you'd love it!

Also, shoot everything with a circular fisheye. Crop in to get whatever magnification is required! No need for those pricey telephoto lenses!

Umm, well, you'd get a better resolution if you just took the shot in "landscape" mode and crop it to "portrait" mode in PP.

But, of course either way results in the loss of a lot of pixels.

I occasionally have done the crop approach -- sometimes I decide after the shoot that it suits the composition better. But in general I much prefer to frame a shot the way I want it!

Circular? A square sensor would be even better ;)
