I have been shooting for a few months but I am new to photoshop. This is my oldest daughter.

The lighting seems to harsh from one direction. Correct me if I'm wrong but it was dark out and you used one flash from your camera to light this?

Yes. On-board flash. Tried to cover it up in post as the original had evidence of flash on her nose and forehead (I used a 5D II with a 430 attached).

It's a nice idea for the shot...but the image is a bit soft. It appears as though your focus point is just ahead of your daughter on the wall or the left shoulder. Do you have EXIF data from the shot? That would be helpful to look at.

Thanks for the feedback. Summarizing what I've gotten so far -

I should off-board the flash and reflect it from at least one other direction to avoid harsh lighting from a single direction

I could have hit focus if i shot for the mid point between eyes rather than the front eye (since it appears i've front focused)
