got to shoot skiing a couple times this winter when I was home from college. I'm loving shooting sports more and more every day, and I can't wait to upgrade to a 1D mkII. any C&C is appreciated!

+1 for watching the crops, for some you either slight out with timing or you need a wider angle to tell the full story (do a search and you will see alot of people saying you need to shoot wide for action sports like this, i would have to agree most of the time but you can go tight as long as the trick is clear to the viewer)

you can check out my little site at www.damienstpierre.com (external link)

It's nice to get action shots of folk who can do tricks, jumps etc. :)

Also agree with the wideangle comments though the obvious downside to that is that you have to be right IN the action to get good shots. If someone makes a mistake you end up with a face full of board or skis.

I agree with the previous comments. In addition I don't care for the tilt that improves the skier but has the background at an angle, photo 2 some and especially 5, 6, 7. I really don't like the background of # 7. Great color and capture of action.

Ski photography is tough, I know from a lot of bad experiences. Yours are better than anything I have ever done.

Thanks for all the input! I shot all day with my XSi, kit lens and 70-200 f4L. I would love to pick up a fisheye or anything wider than the 18-55, but I'm planning on buying a 1d mkII first. any suggestions for fisheyes in the sub-$500 range?

A buddy just picked up a fisheye attachment for around $100. It attaches to your current lens, not the best fisheye out there but its cheap.

+1 for first drop real steezy
