Finally getting time to process some of the HDR's from a recent trip to Florida. So far, this one's my favorite. 7 shot hand held +/-1.3 EV

Hmmmm. Not sure if the silence is good, bad, or indifferent.

Well, in my case, I haven't posted a comment because I missed it.

I really like the processing of both shots. On the first one though, I'm not sure what the subject is...the beach or the tree. I'd like to see more of one or the other in the composition. It looks like the weather was cooperating for you too.

Wow, you guys are a tough crowd!

Thanks Gene. The tree is definitely the subject though in the conversion from high res on my computer to the online version it got a bit dark on the trunk which takes away from the detail of the bark in that area. I tried several times to correct this, but gave up after a bit. If I get motivated, I'll try a different approach.

Here's another from the day:

I really like the detail in the water up close leading the eye to the sailboats and beyond. I love boating and water and am looking forward to doing a few myself.

Nice job.

Nice Jon - seems to be a yellow cast in the last one and a slight blue cast in the 1st - did you set these manually? The water in the 2nd is fantastic....too bad about the beach chairs being there:)

Thanks Spike. I'm going to try to save the first one again tonight and see if I can eliminate these quirks which seem to be occuring during my file converting process. I've been using PS's save to web command to save my files out to a version small enough for posting and haven't noticed this issue with other files before. I'll have to check the third one tonight as well and see if it's operator error or computer. My guess is I overlooked it. Thanks.

Is this an improvement? I've been looking at this so long I can't tell anymore. One thing I noticed this evening is that my calibrated monitor at home makes things look quite a bit different than my monitor at work. Makes me wonder what all of you are seeing.

Yes you can see the difference in the sand......nice.
Did you try the other image with the sail boat - the slight yellow cast? I had to get other eyes in the house to confirm....they did.
Use the hull as your colour picker in the PS's Photo Filter.

How about this?

The boat had a bunch of abnormalities from the tonemapping so I masked in another from the appropriate EV shot and adjusted the water and sky a tad.

....and since we're playing, here's an attempt at looking into the sun. My 13 shot autobracket wasn't quite underexposed enough, but it was fun playing around with it. The slight halo'ing over the trees on the right actually looks better than when I took it out so for now it's in.

Of course, now you've burned out your sensor!

Just kidding. :D Nicely done.

Oh, and the last sailboat shot looks better, I can see detail of water reflecting off the hull now.

Another view of the pond. Lots of grass because there were no clouds :(

Gee, you missed a great opportunity to test the water resistance of your camera by not just walking right up to the pond. :D

Seriously, I think the shot would have benifited by having less grass in the foreground similar to your sun & pond shot above. I know from experience how difficult it can be to get a decent shot when facing into the light and in that regard, you did a great job.
