And the pendulum swings the other way as Nikon copies the 60D...

Pretty modest upgrade after two years.

Looks like the only selling feature is the D7000's sensor.

You'd be surprised how many people like/want the swing-out screen. That was the #1 complaint I heard from customers when Nikon went with only the D3100 for this past Christmas season. While it was (mostly) an easy up-sell from the D5000 to the D3100, I still lost sales because there was no swivel screen on the D3100.

I'd have to agree with those who say it's just a modest upgrade. It looks like the companies are going to try to outsell each other with how many "effects" the camera has at this price point. Perhaps the MP war is over but we're starting to see the "filter" war now. More evolution than something really to get excited about.

Don't see how this is a 60D. Especially since it doesn't have CLS.

More like a T3i clone, but yeah, they copied Canon's MUCH better LCD design.

But no CLS, tiny .78x viewfinder, and no AF motor still, so hard sell over the T3i. Nikon squeaks out a win with the D7000, Canon wins with the T3i and T2i, Nikon wins with the D3100, and Canon wins with the 7D. Seems like the war will never be over! :)

I think that it's fair to say that they both copied Olympus :D. They just improved on the initial idea over the years. My GF want's it as I already shot her down about getting a D7000. She's been doing photography for well over 4 years now & has been dedicated to Nikon so I will not convert her from what she is comfortable with. So she'll be getting this to step up from her D60.

I'm not sure I would call D7000 a squeak, that was more like a smack down.

Only on paper (and at a 30-40% greater cost).

That's what I was thinking. All the people who threw their toys out and went to Nikon must be pretty gutted now.

Seriously, I know I throw a temper tantrum and need to be sent into a corner for a while whenever camera features are added. Oh boy, you should have seen me when they introduced ISO's above 3200, and don't even get me started on adding video capabilities, that do nothing to detract from photographic capability, that was a bad day.
