Do you use a reflector with a flash?

I know you do whatever it takes to get the picture but typically do you use a reflector with the flash or can you get by with just a reflector. Was hoping for experience folks response. Thanks.

the more tools you have at your disposal the easier your job will be, but yes you can get by with a reflector.

Larson Reflectasol. Most compact when closed, most flat when opened, most reliable, most robust. Can be used as either flat reflectors or as umbrellas. Can be dry cleaned, fabric can be replaced or interchanged, or a decent seamstress can even fabricate it. I've got Reflectasols over 25 years old that I use nearly every day.

Can be pricey new (www.larson-ent.com (external link)), but usually many available on eBay. Larson, btw, invented the soft box.

There is an old Larson "Soff Shoulder" up for auction right now on eBay. The current bid is from a guy who I tipped off to it, but it's a great concept for off-camera flash for events.
