It becomes evident real quickly to anyone pursing a business that marketing is absolute key in becoming successful. It can be argued that marketing is even more important than the product you offer.
So...what marketing techniques have worked best for you? What hasn't worked? Please share your best tips and tricks you use to bring in customers. Be as detailed as you're willing but don't feel as if you need to give away your every secret. I look forward to hearing the responses :)

What are you marketing? Different products point to different markets and require different practices.

I meant the question as more of a generic talking point on other photographers personal marketing practices in their business, both successes and failures. Obviously, what works in one circumstance won't necessarily work in another.

Have you done any googling? You might want to display some results of your own research and invite comments rather than leaving everyone with a blank piece of paper.
