It's been a bummer down here in the the Deep South. I live as some might remember from my post the day before the Storm hit, 90 miles North of New Orleans and about 65 miles from the devastated Mississippi Gulf Coast, just outside Hattiesburg, MS.

No power for 14 days, no tap water for 5 days, no Comcast cablevision for 26 days and just finally got my High Speed Interent back going today. 125 mph winds for about two hours do havoc on the ulitilies.

I'll post some photos later of this mess in my neighborhood.

Thank the Lord for Stihl Chainsaws ...

Same here - good to see that you made it through. Katrina was a very strong storm. It even had an effect on major power transmission lines 200 miles north of the water.

Hang in there - I reluctantly hope to see some images from the area.

Thanks everyone for the thoughts.

We actually had to evacuate 95% of our patients by Thursday after the storm. Within 36 hours our 560 bed Hospital was without any potable water supply and two of our four big Generators blew the engines from too much load ... it wasn't a pretty picture at all.

I was wondering about the POTN members form the area, I hope all are as fortunate as you.

Wow, you got it cleaned up pretty fast! I guess with no TV or Internet, you didn't have much else to do. :D Glad to hear you made it through ok, and that none of those falling trees apparently hit your house.

You guessed correct my friend. With no entertainment I'm used to the clean up helped pass the time away. As for damage I did have one hole a limb jabbed in the roof:

IMAGE: http://www.pbase.com/smith_xt/image/50111280.jpg

which I spent this past Thursday repairing myself since roofers are swamped with work. Also I've got to replace all the screen on my back porch and make lots of repairs the the 6' wood privacy fence but again though minor stuff compared to a lot of the others.

I've add several photos to my PBase Gallery: available at the link (external link)
