Hello all, I've recently acquired a 50 1.2 and am having lots of fun with it. I'm curious to know however what f stop others shoot at with this lens. Clearly this is very vague question and the answers will be multiple and i suspect lots of 'it depends' but are there some exclusive 1.2 shooters out there?

I have to say, so far in last few weeks I've spent my time at 1.2, 1.6, 1.8 and 2.0, nothing else really, but am homing in on 1.2 and 1.8 as being my favourites, 1.2 because the depth of field is just so awesome, and 1.8 as a great mix of pin sharp and amazing contrast and colours.

Ps seriously impressed with this lens wide open for colours and contrast, especially compared with my prior 1.4, which was frankly hopeless.

I love 1.2. I would probably say 75% 1.2 and 25% 1.8

Depends on the object.
For small object: 1.2 - 2.0
For portrait: 2.0 - 2.8

For portrait work, 1.2 is just...too shallow. The top of your subjects nose might not be in focus, and that's weird.

You might try 2.0-2.8 for that.

Anything else, go for 1.2 if you want. Nothing wrong with going for 1.2

Don't pixel peep, and you won't even realize it isn't as sharp as it can be.

Usually f/1.2 to f/1.8 or so, but it really depends. If you don't plan to shoot wide open most of the time, save your money and get a slower lens.

I usually only use it from 1.2 - 2.0, if I want 2.8 or more DOF, I will grab my zoom
