I want to get more experience of photographing different dogs/cats etc, so thought I may try and get an email sent round the dog training class I attended to see if anyone is willing to let me practice on their pets.......as my lot are seriously uncooperative and camera shy

These are a few of my faves so far....all C&C and advice welcome please so if anyone takes me up on my offer I can make the best of the opportunity :D

Post your 4 favorite pictures next time. As they say a picture is worth a thousand words and no one wants to write a book ;)

These are terrific. In the first shot, the Chinese Crested (?) looks like he is smiling. Wish the foot hadn't been cut off though. love the colors in the siamese. great shots overall.

The first is harshly lit. The others are nice, although you crop out their body parts when you compose them in frame. Just be careful of losing bits that maybe should be included in the frame.

on 1, the crop and blowout behind the dog is distracting. Its a shame because it would be cute otherwise.
on 2 I would clone out the stuff in bg that doesn't need to be there, and the focus seems a little soft on the dog. There's too much stuff in bg on 3, and it's just not great subject. 4 the crop is better, the lighting is still harsh and the dog on L isn't in focus. 5 is the best of the dog shots. I would sharpen it and lighten up the darker parts a bit. on the cat shots, the second one looks like the eyes are just too blue. The 4th is the best but it is completely centered and a little soft. Animals can be tough to shoot sometimes, but keep shooting, it will get easier!

Thank you :) and great to see someone who knows what he is, most comments are alone the line of 'what an ugly mutt'

Thanks everyone else for your comments - the Western Australian sun is unbelievably bright over here, just need to learn how to cope with it :)

I'll certainly pay more attention to backgrounds and limbs in future as well :D
