Looking to buy the Vagabond but not sure which one I should go for.

the mini would give me more portability but the vagabond would keep my light stands Foot strong.

Any experiences with the outputs?

I've been told that the mini would give me approx. 100 shots less than the Vaga II. Don't know if there's any truth in it

Thanks in advance.

,

Yes!!! But if you are going to carry the Sandbags I think I would invest in a small trolley to tug it around. It might have more uses around the place than the sand :D:D

You will not always need the weight when shooting outside and the portability of the VML and a head is amazing. It is easier to add weight to a VML setup the inverse is not true. Plus I am not entirely sure you can even buy VB2 anymore except used.

The VB2's are still listed but on backorder but so is the VML.

I recently read a post on the FM forums concerning the VB2 and whether on not it will ever be off backorder. As of now I would not be too confident in getting a VB2. And VMLs are shipping daily. YMMV

"There is some truth in this . . . working up course of action now. We are no longer confident in the VII supplier and have lost $500,000 due to them. Yes, we are beginning exploration of a bigger Lithium unit, but it will take time, so there are no time projections at this point."

I sold my VB2 to help fund TWO VMLs! IMO the weight can be added when needed. The smaller size and about the same performance of the VB2 made the VML a no brainer for me.

Exactly the same thing I did, gives you the option to go super lightweight on locations, great for assistants to hold and stuff. If you need more weight to hold a lightstand down, just buy a sandbag.

I own both systems and I must say the Mini is a true game changer for me. Using this battery with the ring light is so much easier and effective lighting tool. I attach it to my dual black rapid harness and the other to my ring light and I can go all day with this setup.

VML, love it. Like someone else said, it's easier to add weight than remove it. I have quite a few ankle weights to hold my stand down and it's extremely convenient for an assistant who's helping boom a light over a subject when they're carrying a VML on their shoulder compared to a VBII

Its not only about using Sandbags.

Would you go for the Mini even it cost almost as much as the Vaga II [Almost the same cost as the VII in the UK]
The Vaga II gives a lot more pops for a charge and the recycle time is much faster if you have plugged in more than one Strobe into it, almost half the time.

I would/will get 2VML's per light compared to one or even 2 VBII's. It's just more compatible imho. I don't know what kind of conditions you shoot in but I doubt I'll go through 500 full power shots in one shoot and even if I do, an extra battery pack which will enable another 500 full power pops on my einstein is only $90 more..

I had the VBII and ordered the VBM... When the Mini came in my life changed and I got ride of the VBII in matter of hours... It is an amazing piece of device and I agree with ni$mo350 about shooting 500 full powered shots... I use it with my AB1600 and AB800 at the same time and i get about 350 shots half way through the battery.

I agree I have yet to burn through a full battery with 2 einsteins and outdoor shooting. Usually me or my model is tired after 200 or so shots :-)

Despite how heavy and shoulder breaking my Vagabond II is, it REALLY keeps my lightstands in place especially on windy beach locations. :D
