Amazon (because Prime is awesome). Most of my gear so far has come from the Marketplace or Amazon. I just placed my first order with Adorama so we shall see how that goes.

Do major buying from B&H, Use Adorama and Amazon for back up. I am spoiled by the service and speed of shipping at B&H. Who are some other retailers I should try when out of stocks occur. I want fast shipping like I get from B&H. I order on Monday and have delivery Wednesday to central Illinois.

I am curious, what does a retailer have to do to get loyalty?

If I were B&H in this position I would be seriously WTF????

They are apparently awesome yet you want a 4th backup.

Damn dude come live in Oz, we have no local retailer 1/2 as good as the three you mention to begin with.......

The OP just wanted backups in case others are out of stock. Nothing to do with loyalty really...if someone does not have what you want you have to go somewhere else to get it.

I will generally include Canoga Camera in my rotation of retailers. They are sometimes the best deal when balancing price, shipping and delivery time from L.A. to Phoenix.

If someone is out of stock on a popular item, how long does it generally take to get it back in? Hours, days, weeks?

I was not trying to start an argument or anything. Sometimes people need things quickly and can't wait weeks for an item to show up in inventory.

Anyway, as I said in my first post, Newegg is great.

In my world, you guys are spoilt brats, seriously a guy was whining because he had to travel 35 miles to try a Think Tank bag before he bought it, my nearest dealer is on a different continent.

In the time it takes for things to come in and out of stock for you, my expected postage has elapsed.

there is a definite feel of "Harden up Princess" for me, no offence, but you have no idea how good you have it the US for gear acquisition :)

The problem is that it depends on so many factors. Retailers are dependent upon distributors who in turn are dependant upon the manufacturers.

Adorama for example, carries an inventory from over 800 different suppliers, and they all seem to operate differently!

As you are no doubt aware, anything manufactured in Japan is going to be s-l-o-w to come in; some estimates I've read are that units which we should already be receiving are forecast to be backed up 'til August.

B&H is not going anywhere, I am very happy. I wanted other options if they are out of stock. I am loyal, I even pay a few bucks more sometimes. I just looked at my account and have placed 18 orders in the last year I have placed one order with another camera dealer on a close out bag that B&H couldn't match...I think that is loyalty.

Nikon D850 and a bunch of stuff, I have learned a lot here when I was shooting Canon, staying to keep learning..."Every time I set up I learn something new".

Do you feel envy:) Do you think you would be any different if you were here?!
There's nothing wrong to shop to any store. Dude, it's not like you're cheating your wife:)
To the OP, I bought some of my gear from NewEgg but they start pissing me off with their new restocking fee, so I try to not give them business anymore.
With the new online prices you might try local stores.

I definitely agree with ya, I was just saying that when something goes out of stock people look somewhere else because it typically takes a while to get it back in due to the fact that supplies must be limited in the first place for a retailer to go out of stock!

Having said that, other than the LEE filter stuff I can't think of anything that I have really ever had to wait on to come in stock! That's pretty good! Maybe I don't desire fancy enough things...:)

+1 for Roberts Camera (Roberts Imaging). I have bought a few items from them. i'm in the Chicago suburbs, and i think i usually get my stuff within a day (as long as i meet the shipping cutoff time).
