This is my first post to transportation. Hope you like it!
Floating high above the Arizona desert, we watched as a balloon below us ignited its burners and, in the early morning light, it seemed to glow against the desert floor below. What a wonderful experience!

Very cool, like the S river with the trees growing alongside.

Nice shot! Could be a Post Card. :)

How was the flight?! A flight in a Balloon is something I've wanted to try for a long time.

How was the flight?! A flight in a Balloon is something I've wanted to try for a long time.

I had been wanting to do this for a long time and knew that the Sedona area was where I wanted my first time to be. It's hard to describe. We lifted off just as the sun was rising. There's no real sensation of movement. I thought that the lift-off would feel like an elevator, but it really doesn't. It's more like...you are stationary, and the ground just moves away from you. Then, when you're airborn, it feels like you are just watching the ground scroll by below you, pull away from you or come toward you. I think what struck all of us first-timers was how quiet it was. Except for the occasional blast of the burners, it is just very quiet, peaceful and serene. I love flying, and have flown in all kinds of aircraft, but this is like none other! Others are exciting. Not that ballooning isn't, but in a totally different way. The feelings of peace and tranquility seem to engulf you, and that is the excitement of it. Enough! Let's just say, I can't wait to do it again. And to BB18, I like that S-curve with the trees growing along it too. I wish I could say I noticed it at the time I took the photo, but I probably didn't. Thanks again to all of you for your comments.

That sounds absolutely amazing! Closest to that I've come is getting my Glider License back in 1999.

Guess I have to tack that on to the Bucket List for sure. :)

I envy you! I said that I had flown in all kinds of aircraft. That's almost true. I've even flown in a military jet. The one thing that's missing for me is a glider. That's on my Bucket List!

Beautiful shot!! They are indeed a true joy to fly in! -- Its also amazing how many deer one sees here in Missouri when you glide over the countryside. I only wish I would have had my present camera equipment when I went several years back.

Yes, in fact we saw a herd of desert big horn sheep and then a herd of antelope with a group of 5 or 6 coyotes stalking them. None of them had any idea they were being observed.
