Anyone using these? They look like they would really do a good job of protecting a lens.

will those slip over a lens with the hood reversed?

What are you trying to protect it from where a standard lens cap wouldn't be sufficient?

I'm just trying to figure out when a cap like that would actually be beneficial. If my lens is out of the bag, its because I'm using it. The cap is off and the hood is in place. If the lens is in the bag with the cap on, its already protected by the bag's padding. I guess if I juggled L lenses for fun, and I could guarantee that they'd always fall nose down, a big cap like that would be great.

The only time these would be useful is the short moment that you take the lens our of your bag before mounting it on your body... So... 10 seconds of usefulness? ... Doesn't seem useful at all.

interesting but I'm not sure I see enough use... only scenario I can think of is for people who use unpadded bags (domke) but toss their bag around anyway
