I have been reading the various threads here on booms and I think they confused me even more. :)

I would like a boom stand that's portable for location work. I plan on using 1 - 2 speedlights and modifiers up to a 60inch Softlighter. However, I also own and use some Speedotron heads that I would like to use on the boom too.

The Cheetah Boom caught my eye, but it sound like it may a little too light duty for the speedotron setup.

Can anyone point me toward a good portable unit that could hold both? Am I better just getting hte CheetahBoom now and adding a beefier one later if I need it? Are there other options I should consider, like Manfrotto?

I've been using a Manfroto 420B boom stand. I've used it with a hot lights and strobes as a hair light and to hold a small soft box as an overhead light. Works well but you must use the sandbag counterbalance and I use another sandbag on the legs.

I also thoght about the Avenger A630B as a remote location lightstand and then adding a manfrotto boom arm.
