My worst fear happened....I have lost some pics from last weekends wedding. Thank goodness I use several cards for a wedding, and it was from my assistant who dosent take a lot of pics.

I have always thought that it would be card failure .....

This corruption was caused by my computer slot or the software that runs it. (not sure yet) The tech said it is usually card failure ,but in this instance it wasnt.

It was sheer luck that I put this card in first and not one of my cards. I then became paranoid and decided not to risk any further cards in case it was my computer......thank god I did.

I then tested cards on my old computer without any probs so started the long process of downloading to external hard drive then back to new computer.

I also tested the new computer slot with other unimportant photos and cards and sure enough another 2 cards were corrupted.

They dont know whether they will be able to retrieve anything from the card.....they are not hopeful, but were surprized that I can still veiw them in camera.

Just thought I would post this as there always seems to be debate over large cards or several.......I am pleased I am a 'several'.

I use several also, never good to put everything on one card. I put the card in the camera and download from my camera directly to the computer so I'm only switching cards into the camera instead of the computer card reader or a separate card reader. Mine downloads faster from the camera also.

I was able to buy a program and recover a bunch of photos even though the card ended up being replaced.

I have never downloaded directly from camera , but I may just do this in the future. This incident has certainly made me even more apprehensive about the vulnerability of CF cards. Thanks.
