Here are a few images from the last volleyball game I shot. I think I am getting a little better—this is tough sport to shoot.

It would be nice if you would embed the links so the images show when the page is loaded rather than just supplying links to images that are not even linked to each other. It may seem like a little thing to you but clicking and then hitting the back button for each image after loading the page in the first place is more time than many wish to spend ... if they aren't worth the extra effort to you they probably aren't to us.

Dwight, this is a quote from the Guidelines on posting:

Please use the attachment feature only when you do not have your own server or gallery space to link images from. The images are stored on photography-on-the.net hard disks and the space is limited - we may delete attachments if space gets low (not likely in near future). At the moment we have 100KB per image filesize limit (100000 bytes) per jpg image.

I don’t mind attaching an image to my post. I too had rather see it here instead of having to click on the link. However, the guidelines leave me with the impression the owners of the site had rather I not use attachments if possible. Suggestions?

Keep in mind I am not too computer literate. Is the way I posted the image in my last post using space on the owner’s site? If posting my image this way is within the guidelines of the owners, please let me know. Thank you.

Well, it looks like you worked it out, eh? I didn't say a word about attachments, did I? This is much easier ... and you put in as many as you want and don't use any space on the POTN server. Neat, huh? :-)

I guess a guy my age can still learn something new. I just might stay in college after all. Thank you Dwight.

Well, with that out of the way I can move on. :-) They look just a tad dark and a tad soft ... which is not to say that you have much control over this except maybe in post processing. What lens and settings?

For all these shot I used my Canon 100mm 2.8 USM II macro lens (this is the fastest lens I own). For most of the shots I had the shutter set to 1/250, a few of the shots I used 1/320 (I think). For all the shots the aperture is at 2.8. ISO is 800. This combination caused all the shots to be under exposed somewhat. I shoot in RAW so I moved the exposure up by +.9 to +1.5 using the software that came with the camera (20D). I also ran the reduce noise filter in PSE 3.0 on all the shots. Shooting volleyball is a challenge—that is why I decided to give it a try.

Most has already been said, but it looks like you could have benefited from using ISO 1600 and 3200. It helped me out greatly to get the fastes shutter speeds. If you have it and need to use it, don't be afraid
