Pocket....
Seriously. Who is this
anal about their lens?
That would be another place to put the lens cap... I'm just saying...
On a serious note, people are anal about their gear. When they first buy it. According to me you need lens/body damage before you can fully utilize and stop giving a **** about your gear getting hurt and instead focusing on getting the shot.
Sure if you only shoot in a studio it might be easy to keep track of the stuff and keep it clean but if you shoot street, PJ or sports stuff will get hurt and dusty. It's just the way it is, so many beginners/gearheads that worry way to much about the condition of their gear. My stuff gets beaten up and I won't repair it unless it affects image quality. Cosmetic damage is just a fact, damage that affects IQ is a completely different thing.
I have UV/Polarizers on all my lenses usually, I have periods where I suspect it to affect IQ so I stop using filters for a while. But now I always have them, the time when I put my 17-40 front element first to the gravely ground was enough to convince me that I have grown accustomed to always having UV filters.
