Mom: "What would you need for a backup camera? you know if you sent your 7D to Canon or in case it broke"

Me: "A 1Ds would work fine, its pretty useful"

Mom: "Those are kinda old though..lacking some nice things like a larger screen"

Me: "Yeah but those are also kinda nice in some ways"

Mom: "Kinda pricey for what they are, Anything else reasonably priced in Canon?"

Me: "1D2, but thats over $1000, I dont like Rebels and I dont really want an xxD"

Mom: "What if you got a Nikon"

Me: "Eh? Well I'd need at least a D300"

Mom: "Thats about $860 isnt it? You could use my lenses with it and try it out"

Me: "No offense but your 55-300 is a bit slow focusing"

Mom: "So what do you want for a lens for it then?"

Me: "If I had to pick? AF-S 300mm f/4, Sigma 50-500 OS, The cheapest i think would be a 70-300 VR probubly"

----

And the convo is now going on and on...My mom is like..Half trying to get me to just get a D300 for some reason

Just get a D3. ;)

Mom: Adorama has a refurb for $1150

Me: But theres a used one for $859

Mom: E+ for $919

Me: But theres an E grade one for $859

Mom: Why not get the best?

Me: Because its cheaper?

------

Nick I doubt it, my mom cant use half of my nicer lenses since they're too heavy, Even a "reasonable" lens on my cam is a bit much for her

I get a feeling theres going to be a box from Adorama showing up -facedesks rapidly-

Shes trying to do something nice and thoughtful I know...but still...

Not really, she just got a D3100

And before you ask, it had to do with cost and nothing more, she got a great deal on the D3100 and for her the D3100 suits her fine...she looked at the T3i but it was too pricey in a 2 lens kit...She got the D3100, 18-55 and 55-300 for $850, Not a bad deal imho...

She knows stuff from me about equipment and that, she knows full frame and crop and that and also a lot about sensors and that, Shes also far from stupid when it comes to tech (She went to school for computer programming...in the 60s..and never really stopped paying attention to computers and that) its fun in a best buy when people assume shes an old lady who dont know anything...

Between the two bodies, the 5DC has a better sensor. :)
