I've looked at a few rocket blowers at my local camera shop and I am wondering if anyone has any suggestions or if they are about the same. One of them is smaller but claims to be made of static free materials and has a filter so it won't pull in dust... It is also about $45. Do features like that make any real difference?

My recommendation is no rocket blower...but that's just me. They've sometimes worked...but they work on "luck" and can sometimes make things worse.

I use this:

Less bulky than the Giottos and just as effective.

I'd recommend Giottos as well, it has an air valve that prevent it from breathing in dust, not sure if others like Lenspen use that design.

Giottos and get the large one. It gives you more blast power.

I agree with the above post. A blast of air just blows around the dust already in your camera. Sometimes you luck out and no new dust eds up on your sensor...sometimes your luck runs out and you get more dust than you started with.

Suggest keeping the rocket blower for lenses.

large rocket blower for power, but I personally use the q-ball since I need it to be more compact

Yep, must have piece of gear. Got sensor dust off my sensor twice. Thought a wet or dry clean was in order. Got the $200 arctic butterfly kit, the rocket blower took care of it though. Great for lenses and such on a more regular basis, but also could be just the ticket for light sensor dust.

OP said nothing about sensors. Initial replies were about lenses.

another +1 for giotttos large rocket blower. I would say 95% of the time blasting the dust away is all that's needed to have clean glass.

Potentially for use for lenses and camera body. What do you guys use to clean the mirror or sensor if the autoclean can't fix it?
