Reading rumors about the iPhone 5 whenever it comes out had me thinking well I certainly don't need it. My next thought a couple of days later was well it might be fun if I can post the images on Facebook and my third thought was how could we use this as the next step in advertising with photography, maybe Internet video isn't the only next major change for Internet photography. A speaker on TED was talking that within two or 4 years 90% of Internet communication will be video but we were expecting streaming video to be the standard so long ago that I can't even
Remember when that was.

Could we use 3 dimensional photography and the net as an everyday visual, and how much more would it takento do 3D video on a cellphone or iPad?

Not sure how this is news really, but to do 3D properly you'd need two different lenses spaced apart to a very precise measurement, I've done a bit of 3D photography and it seems like something that would be a bit too costly in this day and age at least to incorporate into an every day phone when very few people would benefit from it.

That was the rumor, that it was a two lens system. Yes we had 3D movies when I was probably 10-12 yrs old and then again recently but to be able to do this on the scale of cell phones and social media, I bet it'll go over well if it works.

I honestly can't see this having any truthful backing since the iphone 4 is still a relatively new phone, we wouldn't be seeing an iphone 5 until at least 2013, and with the iphone 4 absolutely nothing was leaked until it was already in a late prototype stage.

3D photography is too expensive? I see 3D cameras everywhere. They are point and shoot quality, not DSLR, but an iPhone or iPad, that would be easy.

do you understand how 3D is done? I'm looking at my camera phone now and there's no way in hell the effect could be achieved from that one small button-sized lens.

So this (external link)and this (external link)are not real 3D? Not much bigger than a phone... Just add a second "button sized lens" to the phone...

At first I thought you were joking here, but I think you were serious...?

You do realize there are 3d P&S cameras on the market, have been for about a year...

as far as the iPhone, the 4 was leaked ahead of time and everyone knew when it was coming out. There are already images of parts for the the next iPhone on the net and it's rumored to be released sometime around June or July.

No way apple would sit on their hands for 3 years without releasing a new iPhone!

Other than that, you're spot on!!

iPhones have about a 1 year life cycle. With that said, I expect the next iPhone to be slightly delayed since Verizon just got the iPhone and I think Apple wants to give the iPhone 4 a bit more life because of that. I expect the next iPhone in the Fall.

I don't think so.. 3D is pretty gimicky still (and probably always will be). It also doesn't really help convey much more information than a regular photo. I don't think it will have much effect on communication. It also bothers my ****ing eyes.

I mean, the Tangled blu-ray cover is kinda cool but certainly didn't influence my decision to buy it.

Yep, I'm expecting a July-Sept release for the iPhone 5 as well.

Whenever it happens, we'll be getting 4 of them!
