I've been think about getting a DSLR for months after selling all my SLR stuff about six years ago and using a G7 since. I've read all the reviews and tried a Rebel and the 60D. My very bad back made me very conscious of weight and I chose the T3i three weeks ago. I bought the 18-135 off a guy last weekend. I wanted a do-it-all lens that I will keep on the camera 80% of the time. I decided the the 18-135 gave me the right range and weight to be the right choice and compromise. I also have the lenses below when needed. Today was the first decent day we've had so I could go out, drive around, and take a few pictures to see if I was going to be happy ... or wish I had gone for the 15-85, or an L lens. The camera/lens carried great on the sling and I was very pleased with the results for the first time out.

Those are really nice shots! Congrats on the camera and the lens! It looks very sharp and very useful Focal Range, that's for sure! I know how making lens decisions can be really difficult and one is always left wondering the 'what if' on the lenses one discarded as options.

I'm glad to hear you are happy with yours!
Rafa.
