We spent 2 days winding our way up along the stunning Blue Ridge Parkway. Day one down south saw so much stunning scenery we were in overload. Day 2 brought a bit of ice and snow still left in places, plus plenty of thick fog. It was still closed off at Cumberland Knob so we had to detour around through Sparta, but it all added rather than took away from the whole experience of driving it. It is very easy to see why it is called America's favourite drive and is a must do for everybody.

They are great shots. Have you thought of converting any of them to B&W? Especially 2,3&4.
If you do, I would not mind seeing those conversions.

just a few of my thoughts...

What part of the Parkway were you traveling?

Yes, I reckon next month when all the trees are in bud and coming out will be fabulous. It should be open right through then as well.

Thanks Pierre. I will probably have a play with them when I have time back in Australia. At the moment getting computer time is hard, too much to see and do.

Thanks, I want to go back already! We are up in DC now and already missing the quiet of the BRP.

Pretty much most of it. We started early, broke off after day 1 and stayed in Boone, then jumped back on again to Roanoke, then jumped off to Williamsburg.

I was just curious about your experience with the Shenandoah area. I'm going there at the end of May.

Sorry it has taken me so long to reply, it has been a busy time. We loved it. The only thing we will do next time probably is go in summer, rather than early spring. In saying that though we got to see more without leaves on the trees. I reckon Fall would also be a stunning time to visit. It is one of those places you definitely earmark to revist again and stay longer.

Very impressive set - #1 is an awesome shot. Like everyone else, I sure would like to make that drive.

Very nice shots! All of them! I've been on the end of the Parkway (Gatlinburg end) and got some awesome sunset pics. It's a nature lovers dream. Not too bad on a motorcycle either!

Thank you. Yes, all the way I kept thinking I'd like to be on a bike - except when it was foggy. It is one drive we will be making again.

I am really liking #4. #3 is nice too but I would crop a good chunk of the gray sky out.

Thanks for sharing!

Thanks, you are right, I never though about a tighter crop. I'd already cropped the dead ground out of the bottom as it was just dark sticks standing up but did not touch the top.
