Forgive me if this has been covered. I have been searching for a few days and I cannot seem to find out what this style of editing is. I hope the link works. It is a picture of Connor Surdi's WRX. I emailed Connor but did not get a response.

Of course, as soon as I post this, I think I found what it is called. Cross processing?

That's more of a "Selenium Tone" than cross processed...

The type of shot is called a "Rolling Shot" (shot from another vehicle) as opposed to a "Rig Shot" which is where the camera is attached to the subject vehicle via a boom arm which is removed from sight in post.

Just looks slightly desaturated with a contrast boost. The name of the style - sorry I can't help there!

Cross processing is basically having one tint to your shadows and another to your highlights..digitally anyway. Unsure how it worked with film.

In film days cross-processing was developing a color film in chemistry that was intended for another kind of film.

Well, Elie, that is the most sense-making explanation of cross-processing I've ever heard -- why hasn't that been put out more?

IIRC, "Cross Processing" was developing print film in chemicals intended for slide film.

Pretty sure it was C-41 film in E-6 chemicals.

Well now, Jay, you too!

We should have a sticky called "cross processing" with all this stuff.

Then, whenever someone pops up with one of these "How do I get this look?" threads, we just point them to a sticky, that maybe includes just the basics of how to approach this in PS. That way we could avoid the over-elaborate attempts to, well, you know.

Just something that stuck in the brain...

As I said above, Connor's shot really isn't what I'd call a true cross-processed looking shot.

CP usually came out with very pronounced CMY values and the one linked above just looks very "cold" and metallic in nature.

Yeah, and that's the way with digital, and we can't give a "one size fits all" answer, but maybe a "here is a starting point"?

well, if you look at the photo description under his editing info it says film/troy. A quick google search brought me here:

search for the "troy" Preset. Pretty much almost alike

I just bought it, along with a few others - they are a good starting point.
