Welp - here they are, my favorites from my first time doing studio work... nothing professional, just one of my wife's friends being cool enough to model for me.

Matt, I like them, they came out well! I like what you did with the tones, cooling it down but making the skin still feel pretty natural. The lighting is nice too, and I like the framing as well (might've left the hair in a little bit more on the left side of the last image and given a bit more room on the bottom on the first, but neither are opinions I feel terribly strongly about). For me, photos 3 and 4 work best; posing has the most to do with it. The way her head is tilted back in the first shot takes away the shadow under her chin and widens her neck which, to me, is unflattering for her. Her smile isn't really as genuine as the third shot (my favorite, for the lighting's shaping and her smile). The second image's head tilt feels a bit strong to me too, but it's a good image too. Nice work! I think the biggest things that got me were personal taste things and things you didn't really have control over, like her roots being a completely different color than her hair (which is the only nit for me in the third image), and me not being terribly into blondes :p

On the whole... very nicely done, Matt.

^ Thanks guys. This was my first time as you know so I didn't get too crazy and just went for headshots and thats it. Being I only had one light source and I wanted as even lighting as possible, I set up the Qbox on axis above the camera pointing downwards at her, using a reflector (silver side up) to fill underneath.

Loren's a cool girl, and a friend of mine and my wife, but she is no model. She's pretty, but when I tried to get different expressions out of her, it was how can I say... limiting.

But all and all I'm happy with the results being it was my first time. Gald you guys like the PP too... I went for an SNL type of look. All the colors you see are strictly PP, no colored backdrop, ect...

I think I came off as a bit of an ass  in regards to her look. I realize she's not a model, but she does have very striking features and probably could be a model if she wanted. You did an awesome job, I haven't seen SNL, so I looked the photos up and I think, had I seen those before, it certainly would've clicked. Mission accomplished :)

I'm glad man, you're doing great work. Have you had a chance to use the 22" dish?

No, because I ordered a special mount (bowen) Kacey is taking a little longer. I believe its scheduled to ship on Monday, so I won't probably get it till Friday. Maybe during the weekend I'll be able to mess around with it... hopefully.
