Thats a VERY broad question... Short answer, YES of course there are! Im not sure WHO makes them is the reason for the differences, just varied levels of quality, performance, accessories, etc.

Perhaps if you narrowed it down a bit more to two brands to compare that you are considering buying, it might be easier for people to provide you more useful information as to which would be better or better for you.

I am referring to Chinese made Visico lights.

This brand has digital readout & discharge capacitor built into each light.

Yes. Main differences are build quality and color consistency. Other major differences are the quality (both build and design) of the modifiers made to fit each light.

Ask yourself this...

  • If something should break during the warranty period, how do you get warranty issues addressed for that Chinese brand, where you live. And same question for the established name brand.

  • If something should break AFTER the warranty period, how do you get service and parts issues addressed for that Chinese brand, where you live. And same question for the established name brand.

  • Some day, when you grow out of what you bought, what will the used equipment resale market be like, for the Chinese brand vs. the established name brand.

That can point out a significant difference in what you decide to buy.
