Hi everyone -

Not sure if this is the right forum, mods move if necessary.

My wife and I have decided a digital camcorder would be a wonderful thing to have around for our new baby that is due in September. The camera is just for personal use - recording memories of our baby and most likely to be stuffed into a pocket of my hunting vest on pheasant hunting trips.

-I don't want a DSLR with video because my wife would want to use the camcorder at the same time as Im using the 5D.

-Im also not terribly concerned with IQ. I want it to be decent HD quality, but I'm not going to use this for any kind of production and I wont ever be evaluating critical sharpness across the frame or anything like I do with the images from the 5D. Just good ol, consumer grade HD video is just fine by me.

-Good autofocus and a decent optical zoom range would be nice for the hunting videos. Although Im not expecting miracles, I would expect that my baby will be inside far more often than outside so performance under indoor lighting should be considered.

-I really only want to spend about 300-500 on this.

BH has a ton of good reviews on the Sony HDR-CX110 HD Handycam, but I'd be curious to see what you guys think.

Thanks!
