i got a 10D used the other day and have been trying to use a 16gb CF card with it.
I formatted the CF card, but it still says error 2(CF card error)bevery once in a while when i am using it.
I know other older cameras have problems with high capacity CF card.....
I tried to upload the new firmware on to the CF card(which worked fine,) but when I put the CF card in to the camera, the camera could not find the firmware update.
I tried this several times, formatting the card, uploading the firmware, putting it in the camera, etc....
but it won't work.
i really dont want to go buy a low capacity CF card as i will probably just be selling this camera soon anyways. any ideas on what is the problem here? My CF is card is basically brand new and works fine in other cameras.

probably best you pick up a 2G card. there's some useful 10D specific info here: http://www.robgalbraith.com …ti_page.asp?cid=6007-6111 (external link)

As far as the firmware goes, from the firmware update instructions: "Use a formatted CF card for installing the new firmware ( 8MB or more, 2GB or less)."

see: http://web.canon.jp …OS10D/10D_firmware-e.html (external link)

some fairly old canon camera stuff, canon lenses, Manfrotto "thingy", 1D MK II converted for IR, and now an M5

My educated guess is that the camera does not recognize the card. Try using a smaller card--2 or maybe 4GB. It will remove the questions as to what the problem is.

I got an 8 gig card for my 300D, I had all sorts of weird problems including the camera randomly rebooting. The fix was to format the card in the PC, it had something to do with the cluster size on the card if I tried to format it in the camera. Since doing that I've not had a problem

hope that helps
