Hello Everybody,

I m having Canon 500d aka T1i with std lense kit 18-55mm.

I want to buy single lense which will cover wide range to telephoto.

Which will be the great for this EF-S18-135mm f/3.5-5.6 IS or EF-S18-200mm f/3.5-5.6 IS?

I m new to photography, plz suggest.

The longer the zoom range the more of an IQ compromise you are making. The 18-135 is a great carry around lens, and there probably is a reason Canon offers it as the kit lens on the 60D.

With the 18-200 you give up a little IQ for the range. The best bang for your buck would be to team up a 55-250 with your kit lens.

This might help with your decision: http://www.adorama.com/CA18135ISR.html (external link)

If you have $500 plus to spend, get an E-TTL flash with tilt and swivel. The above lens plus a flash like the Metz 44 AF-1 E-TTL- / E-TTL-II Shoe Mount Flash for Canon Digital Cameras for $199.99 plus shipping is just over $500.

I had the 18-135 and I felt it was "perfect" as far as the focal length for me. However, I found it to suck in a ton of dust. Had the dust not bothered me so much, I would have kept it, but I grabbed a 24-105L to replace it. Not because I wanted to step up to an "L", but simply because I found once I had the 18-135 on my T1i I never took it off. The 24-105L was an investment in a high quality lens that came close to the focal length I wanted.

I highly recommend the 18-135, though I do understand there are some soft copies out there.

I've been really happy with my 15-85mm, good focal length and IQ in my opinion...only time I run into trouble is when I need low light but then I just use my nifty-fifty. The 15-85mm is a great in-between lense, not quite an L-lens but a huge improvement over kit lenses.
