Using the pain pleasure theory I am going to have a great holiday ........ I have just had my top right wisdom tooth removed, at one point there was one dentist holding my head and the other digging away with a pair of pliers after the crown broke off. I am happily typing away now as the local anaesthetic is still doing it's thing but I know that in an hour or sos time I will be like a bear with a sore head .... literally :-)

Yuck! They put me to sleep when they extracted mine.

Meet the B & S Railroad...(Beleaguered & Schizophrenic).

I'm posting these mainly for the benefit of my brother who has heard about this project, but has not yet seen it. It's about 3/4 finished on the lower lever, and less than 1/2 done on the upper level. There will be another leg of both levels of the layout against the wall (sliding door, actually) where I'm standing while taking the o'head shot. The portion to the left in the photo will also be two levels, but it's much easier to do the trackwork on the exposed lower level before building more benchwork above it.

The 'spiral' is called a helix, and it allows the trains to move from one level to the other without excessive grades. In this case, it's about 2 1/2%, and that's actually pretty steep for real railroads, but not so bad on a model. There's almost 40 ft of track from where the grade begins at the far end to where it returns to the upper level, although it doesn't look like that much. The rise is about a foot.

Except for the helix, I'm just starting to lay track (the expensive part of the process), so it will likely look very much like this for a while.

Very cool looking setup! I'd love to see what it looks like when it's all finished!

These came up at work. I like them both, but would use them in different ways due to the mood. I would take them both to a show, if that is what you are planning. I would even hang them next to each other for folks to contemplate.

HEATHER sometimes I find stuff where Curt last put them. This morning it was a link I had to find, after opening 5 tabs it was right there in the first tab, just wasn't thinking.:o

I know how that is too.

What a day. I just had to call our framers about something, and scrolled back, and back, and back, to redial a number I called earlier today. I actually bothered to count (yeah, like I have the time), and I sent/recieved 53 phone calls today. I will be on that plane tomorrow at 2:00 in the afternoon regardless.

We have a charity art auction/dinner thing that starts in just over an hour. I have not even begun to think about packing for our trip yet (Better fashion coordinate with the Chief so I don't chance to meet him wearing the same Tommy Bahama shirt ;)). Plus, I still have a few hours worth of work to get done before I leave.

First, I need a nap to recharge as I have been going since 3:00AM straight.
