Naw, see, this is a great time to make up a whole bunch of bizarre American customs to show your new friends. "It's customary that the lady of the house shotguns three beers in quick succession when the party starts. It brings good luck."

You're so bad.

:lol:Good idea. The upstairs has glass floors, I am hoping for skirts.

Well, duh, yeah, uh huh, yes, yes I am

Didier, I really liked your pictures. A very difficult place to visit but a place that should be visited. The scale of the place is overwhelming. I remember visiting the the Jewish Museum in Berlin. There is a large hall dedicated to the Holocaust / Shoah where it is mind numbing but I was almost looking at it as history, in the basement of the museum are a small number of alcoves with the personal stories of individuals or families, it was one of the most moving and unsettling experiences of my life.

There is an excellent website run by The Holocaust Education & Archive Research Team (LINK (external link))

Thanks Neil! I've visited that one as well...

While in Poland, I've visited the Wieliczka salt mine (external link).

It is an incredible place. The mine started operating in the 13th century and has more than 190miles (300km) of galleries. All the galleries are carved in salt and there are some beautiful rooms, fully carved in salt (inclusive statues, chandeliers, ...)

Here are the stairs going down the first shaft (about 300 steps...) One walks down and takes the miner's lift back up...

That's a good magazine, and I purchase it whenever I see it. It's not easy to find.

You are fortunate to have such a thoughtful doctor. Mine has brochures all over her waiting room with titles like, "So You Want To Breast Feed,' and 'Fiber And A Happy Colon.' I don't read that stuff. I just play with the big plastic letters and blocks on the floor in the corner.

I bring my Kindle along. That way I get to read what I want.

Didier, you are bringing back memories, I was really glad that there was a lift at the other end of the trip. Did you come across the guy half way round checking that you had paid your Camera ticket?

Heh! Yeah, it can get funny. And then what can really get to you is the TV commercials you have to sit through! I mean really -- do we want to listen to one talking about erectile dysfunction followed by another on talking about colon disorders? Acchh!

that is part of the reason we are using the DVR more often, we can fast forward the commercials
