Did you hab a code in the next vid? I didn't recognize your voice.

Yes I did/do and it was shot with a Canon G9 so I think it even conforms to the forum.

My first day!

It has been a really long day! I worked 8am-6pm... That's a LOT for a first day! Orientation to the company was 4 hours  I had to watch videos on hazardous materials, bloodborne pathogens (which I used to teach!), diversity etc. I even got to play with a fire extinguisher... yeah so I've taught that too... :p Then a tour of the whole campus (there are 3 residential homes for persons with intellectual disabilities, an adult day program - beautiful NEW buidling, my program the Early Learning Center and then maintenance and administration) After that I got a free lunch in our cafeteria. I spent the rest of my day working with my assistant to begin to go through the 16 hours of required orientation there... and deal with issues straight off the bat!

I was very pleased to see some of the teachers I had when I was at the college. They were excited to see me! Which is good... it's never easy when there's a significant change as there has been in this case. But it was a good first day! I'm exhausted but happy!

Jen, that does sound like a very good (if exhausting) first day.

way to go, Jenn! Glad you survived the 1st day.

Of course I am interested in whatever info you have for childcare. We looked up some places near our places of work. $2-2500 a month per kid. What do people do to afford that kind of stuff?

Move to NC and you can get care for under $1000 a month! Sending you a PM with some information in it! Please feel free to ask me questions!

One thing many families do is use a Flex spending account or what may be called a Section 125 account. It allows you to use pretax payroll deducted funds to pay for dependent care expenses. Many states also have voucher systems in place (I'm certain Mass does) to help families under a certain income level pay for care... Guidelines vary state to state on that though.

$2 doesn't sound bad, but 2500 seem pretty steep.

With that, I shall take my Depends, Poligrip, Dulcolax, and fresh package of hearing aid batteries, and take my leave. Looks like number 40K will just have to wait for a while.

I'm not short. I'm concentrated awesome!

Never heard of Darius Rucker, but Darius Kinsey (external link) was someone worth paying attention to. (This is a photography forum, right?)

The size of the trees is just mind boggling.....can't envision attacking those beasts with simple hand tools. You earned your pay on that job!

That was cool. The camera angle straight down is a bit deceiving, because when the show ahead it is not quite so steep looking. Still, it is something you would want to be careful doing, I see they were smart and had ropes.

I know well who Darius Rucker is, but had not heard of Kinsey. There are some great photos on that page.

Glad to hear you had a good first day.

My work day just ended, another 5AM to 9PM one, way to long for this old fella.

We decided to suffer through with only one income, and had Lisa stay at home. Sacrifices had to be made, but we are glad we did it.
