Just checked the prices on some 300 and 400mm lenses today and none of them (USA models) listed free shipping. I did a search on ALL Canon lenses and came up with the same results. What the hell?! Price increases, shipping costs...

I just ordered some audio stuff from B&H yesterday with free shipping and a lot of the stuff listed had free shipping *shrug* Perhaps they just eliminated it on heavier/higher cost items.

The law of supply and demand. I bought a Tokina lens from them that will be arriving tomorrow and that had free shipping.

Possible. I just find it strange that in the two years of shopping at BH, most of Canon's products had free shipping. Today, only a select few did. These included the Canon 60D, T2i, T1i, and a couple more. No lenses had free shipping, not even the 50 f/1.8.

If free shipping is an issue then you always have a choice to shop somewhere else..

Exaclty.

I can't understand why free shipping always seems to be such a big deal. There is no free shipping. There is total cost to purchase something, and on top of that you can consider the value added (return policy, support, etc), if any, from the retailer. What's the big deal?

Free shipping can be a tipping point when deciding which dealer to buy from...so shop around for the best deal in total price to you.

I have a friend who in manufacturing, he said his increased shipping costs world wide have hit the company very hard. Just the rising cost of fuel has affected this quite a lot. Imwould not expect any of this to get better in the next few years.
