Hi.
Recently picked up a 3rd party battery grip. I tend to not use battery grips but i shoot Marathon runs and all shots have to be shot portrait position so having the grip really helps.

Got it delivered today from Ebay and i attached it to my 7D and all of a sudden the camera starts firing automatically, even when i turn the grip to the "off" position.

Has anyone ever came across this problem. Any help would be appreciated.
Ta :D

Sounds like you should have bought Canon ;)

Seriously though, sounds like the shutter button is stuck down and possibly the grip on/off switch doesn't do anything. Which one on eBay did you buy?

Try not to tighten the grip too much, backing off the mounting screw may improve the electrical connection between the grip and body.

It's not gonna be as nice as the canon but I think you got a bad one if it does that right away, might want to try a return. I can't imagine any of the common generics being sold don't "work", the problems are mainly that they are plastic so they have more flex on a tripod than the canon one and that the longevity might not be as good

I think i'll go with the Opteka brand, they seem to get fairly good reviews

I had similar issue, with a Phottix...
the lens/body would constantly try to focus, so the camera never shut itself off after being idle, because it would never actually be idle... the off switch on the grip would resolve the issue
sent it back and got another, and all was fine
