Hey there guys I was just wondering what you thought of these photos

This one was taking a while back in Italy in '09 I think and I really like it just because it is simple and beautiful but would be interested in what other people think

This one was taken Jan '11 at Bronte Beach, Australia, with the 1d Mark II and a water housing with my tokina fisheye. This is probably my favourite from that morning as it has a nice vibe to it, though the blacks might be a bit too black, since i wanted to expose for the beautiful sunrise, but i quite like the silhoutte.

And this was one of my first barrel shots looking out at Tamarama

The first one doesn't do anything for me but I absolutely love the 2nd and 3rd one.

I enjoyed all of them.
The subdued colors and composition of #1 really make the picture. I think it's quite beautiful.

#2 is a great shot. Nice colors, and what makes it stand out to me is that you included some people in the shot. It doesn't bother me at all that your blacks are up...I like that it draws my eye to the subjects.

#3 is extremely cool. I've never attempted this kind of a capture, but I imagine it is difficult to do successfully. Nice work.

Thanks guys just what i was after!

I guess as with anything you'll get people who like photos and people who dont, but i guess what is really important is that I like it and more importantly why

For the last two shots I was using an Aquatech DV-3 Surf housing, with the Tokina fish, but i have since sold the 1d and that housing to go for the smaller and newer setup of the canon 7d and a Liquideye housing (http://www.liquideye-whs.com/housing-details.php?id=C1793S (external link)). They're not cheap but that's where my two passions overlap, surfing and photography so it is definitely worth it.

As for the difficulty of getting a shot like that last one, if you have the gear and have ok knowledge of waves which i did from surfing, then its not too hard, and my shot is by no means at all good in comparison to some of the other stuff out there, but im still learning so its all good :)

Couple more if anyone is interested

This one is even blacker than the other one so not sure about it but the colours are nice

And this one i think i may have a bit too much contrast and blacks yet again, and also maybe a little bit of a straighten (maybe i should tone my efforts down in Lightroom?haha)

This one was shot quite early before the sun really rose a lot, so there were some nice muted tones in there and hence the slower shutter speed, but i guess it conveys the movement

2 and 3 on the first set are rather nice. 1 is nice, it's just too common, I think. Good Job!

Cheers guys!

Yeh i guess the leaf shot could be a little cliched but as it was my 2nd month in my photographic 'career' i wasn't really too fussy :)

JayZ if you wanna check out my flickr there are a couple more shots on there

www.flickr.com/robbbow (external link)

& Sean Pierre, buying a water housing was one of the best things ive done in photography, there is so many beautiful shots to be had from the water with the beauty of the waves and whatnot, and its a completely different perspective to what most people are used to seeing, as typically its both difficult and expensive to submerse your camera safely, though its much easier and cheaper nowadays. Check out eBay or some forums to see if a cheap second hand one pops up for your 5d and fisheye!

I think the floating leaf is a nice, clean, simple composition that is probably the best of those posted. Not wild at all about the heavy vignetting in your images, nor the severely tilted horizons in the tube shots. I'd imagine that it'd be difficult to get them nice and even while you're waiting to get swamped by a wave, but all the same it detracts from the images.

Love the shots from the barrels of the waves. Waves are so strong, how did you capture these? I would get tossed around and lose my camera LOL.

Amazing shots. I love the colors in the first shot (leaf).
