Today's sun. 1/500sec, ISO 100, 80mm f/5 scope with a white light solar filter. I added the orangish color in Photoshop. What do you think?

Apr 12, 2011 21:09 | #2 I think you did a very good job ! However you can get a little more sunlike color out of that in PS . Check out mine , thats what i did with a Baadar filter .

Apr 13, 2011 00:08 | #4 Steve i used mainly Variations to add red and yellow til i get to the tone i like with the midtones then i adjust the highlights and then the shadows til the background is dark to my likings . Then i save and open levels and click in the dark area and it darkens the BGa little more . I don't click the BP-GP-WP tabs , i just use the eye dropper only . Below is the white sun from my Sunspot page . I just made the above adjustments then saved it but this is just playing . Check Jay Baullers sun at http://www.allaboutastro.com/solar.html

Apr 13, 2011 03:08 | #5 I like the photo of the sun, it is easy to see the sunspots. Canon Powershot S95, Canon EOS 1000D attached to Skywatcher Explorer 150P on an EQ-3 unguided mount.

Did you do anything to get the texture or did it just come out that way? Jeff

Did you do anything to get the texture or did it just come out that way? Steve - I'm with ya, I'm going to try the colors again. I just picked up a Coronado PST so I'm looking forward to getting some different shots with that. ![]() Thanks Jeff for the comments ! Actually that texture is already there . When the colors are added in PS with the Variations settings it really starts to bring out the structure . In the plain white baadar shots you can't see the structure unless you really zoom in but too much then you start seeing pixels . Also very seldom do i use any sharpening except only to bring out the sunspots somewhat better . Too much sharpening can ruin the structure quickly !
