Jim, she is lovely.

First I really like, except for the skin.smoothing? It looks very "smooth"

Second is way bright, actually makes me squint a little.Light was too harsh for me, see her eyelashes? She is trying not to squint as well....this pose makes her looks very masculine as opposed to the first.

Hopefully you get alot of practice with her!

skin smoothing is a little bit noticeable, but its okay for me. I think the bigger problem is that your flash is a little too strong, it doesn't seem natural enough and its definitely brighter on the wall than it is on the model. Perhaps some burning would help.

For the second I agree with Flo, it is definitely too bright. Her skin tone looks like a vampire's compared to the first picture.

In #1 it looks like her hand is tearing a chunk of the wall out.

Hello. Im afraid that I can't really add anything new. I do believe that the pp, especially on 1 is a bit much. Maybe if you add a bit of texture back into her skin it would be fine. It might be just me but the light falling on the bg, right side it looks like a vertical stem or branch, is a bit bright and it takes my eye away from her face. 2 is a little bright, and I think the masculine pose makes her look upset since she is squinting her eyes as well. Otherwise these are both rather nice. Keep Shooting!

Jim, nice processing overall. It does look like you used a bare flash for both images. The shadows seem pretty harsh. I think if you had something like a shoot through umbrella, the lighting would have been better, re: softer shadows. On the second image, I also agree that it would have been better if she had not been looking straight into the sun.

As for the hand placement on the first image, I think it would have looked more feminine if her fingers were straighter...as though she is caressing the wall. ;)

Seconded on straighter fingers in #1 :) and also on the skin smoothing being a bit too much, but otherwise great shot and great lighting.
#2 not so good for me, I don't really like how its framed so you can't really see the whole branch or whatever it is (thats part of the problem, not being able to tell what she's leaning on straight away). The lighting is a bit too harsh too, could have used a reflector to soften up the shadows under her nose/chin?

I keep looking at her hand instead of her face in the first one. Maybe if you darken her hand and the wall a bit?

Skin tone change is pretty dramatic from one shot to the next. Also as others have said it is perhaps a bit over smooth.

The first photo is nice. I like it. But you should remove the spot of highlight on her arm. On the second one, a diffusion panel would have prevented her from squinting and a reflector would have eliminated the shadow under her chin as well as keeping her face/left arm at all the same rate of exposure.
