I was just going over some shots I took today and came across this. This is a direct conversion from a neutral RAW image. I can PP it out but I've never seen such heavy CA. This crop is the upper right hand corner, EXIF information is intact. Lens is a Tokina 16.5-135 @ 16.5. Would you consider this acceptable?

Nope.

I wouldn't be surprised if you got some CA near the middle of the frame as well. But it all comes down to your expectations, for the price it's hard to expect better performance.

Reviews have said CA is a big problem for this lens at the 16.5mm end, but I haven't seen it as pronounced as your image but that's most probably the crop.

After all it's only a $299 lens (for now) but I've used a lot of lenses in 26 years and this house across the road is one of the reference shots I always take with a new lens. I've never seen CA like this before. Not even on the 85/1.8.

I'm finding out quickly it certainly does have an issue with CA @ 16.5. Thankfully I have cs5/LR3 and can fix it easily in shots that matter

That's pretty normal for a consumer grade lens with such a zoom range.

I had a Nikon 18-200VR that didn't exhibit this much CA especially stopped down to f/7.1. Wonder if the Canon 18-200 is similar? Overall for a $300 lens I'm saitisfied with it for times when I just want to carry a cropper with one lens, the CA is easily removed PP with the red/cyan lens correction at -40.
