I had to photograph a senior this week on th eonly day he had available and the sky was gray and full of smug. Clear visibility was about 100 feet then everything went gray. So I decided to try and create some light to help the pictures. I used two flashes in these.
The first is what the picture looked like without retouching straight out of the camera this is just straight flash. One in front and one behind the back flash had an orange gel (cto) to simulate sunlight but the strength was turned down low.
This shot we then put full cut cto gel on the flash and turned the flash up a bit to give it a better sunlight feel.

Lastly we tried put a full cto on both flashes and then changed the color balance to Tungsten to turn the background blue but leave the subject in the right WB. This is the first time I have done this and I was pretty pleased with the results but will have to keep playing with this to perfect the look.

Would love to hear your thoughts on this C&C appreciated. Any tips on getting better results with these shots would also be appreciated.
