B&W pier and portrait using NIK need C&C

What do you think about these two. I just started playing around with the NIK suite?

I really like that pier shot. If you live close by it that might be worth going out around sunset and seeing what you can get.

The shot of the boy is a cute fun image. I like the composition offset to the water on the right and feel it gives a nice balance. You may want to consider applying some selective sharpenning to his face to bring up a little more detail.

The pier is a pleasant composition and you did a good job of catching the mood of that day with the conversion. I would crop out about 1/3 of the sky though - IMO I feel too much negative space detracts from more interesting parts of the image. I would also brighten and add a little bit more contrast to the foreground rocks. There is some nice detail there but it is a little lost in the murkiness.
