choosing an EF-S only I'd go with 30mm Sigma and a fast (f/2.8) zoom, either a Tamron or Sigma 17-50mm lens.

Canon 5D MkII | Canon 16-35mm f/4 | Canon 50mm f/1.8 STM | Canon 24-105mm f/4 | Tamron 70-300mm VC | Canon 430EX II | Benro A2682TB1

You cannot name 2 without knowing what the subject will be. One might be EF 800/5.6 or a fish-eye.

^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^
This kind of thread has come up lots of times...if you could give us a clue as to what (as gasrocks said) we'd be shooting, it would really help....
If not:
The EF10-100L f/1.2 IS USM III, and the 100-600L f/2.8 IS USM IV.

Regards,
Simon...who loves a silly thread, but prefers chocolate right now!

really depends on what you want to do with them. No doubt most people will start listing the better quality lenses for the crop body so I'll chip in with mine:
Canon 10-22
Canon 17-55
Canon 60mm macro (arguably the sharpest lens for a crop you can get)

Out of those the 1st and 3rd (I wasnt enamoured by the 17-55 even though its a good lens)

There are no doubt a whole host of EF lenses that work well on crop but thoughgt I'd stick to EF-S only for now.....

edit:

Forgot this was a cropper - agree, tis a good one as well

10-22 SUCKS Hairy Nuts. LOL.

17-55 is a wonderful lens.

Sigma 17-50 2.8 EX OS

Asking that type of question is like asking "what kind of car should I buy" without telling anyone if you need to carry passengers, want speed and performance, fuel economy, etc...

For me personally...I like the 50 1.4 USM and the 18-135 IS is fine as a walkaround lens. I don't have experience with any others except for the 55-250. I'm not into dropping huge amounts of money on lenses as this is just a hobby for me.

Cameras: 7D2, S100
Lenses: 17-55 f/2.8 IS USM, 18-135 STM, 24-70 f/4L IS USM, 50 f/1.4 USM,70-300L IS USM
Other Stuff: 430 EX II, Luma Labs Loop 3, CamRanger

Ford Focus.

Even though I agree with you that the question is ridiculous, it's still often possible to answer it from your own perspective and preferences ;)
