Vacation Critique

Well I discovered I can't take traditional vacation photos, most my photos were of bug, lizards, surfers, sunsets, and flowers. I am looking for some basic C&C, I feel like I had a successful trip photography-wise but I know there are always ways to improve.

This is kind of a best-of-trip sampler.

#2 in my opinion could use some more DOF, I really like #6, and I cant see the last two photos, but the others are all very good, were these all taken in Maui?

1: I like but I think it needs a little more umph. The fine details need to be more apparent.
2: Needs to be a little closer and a little more in focus. There is a lot of frame here with bg only in it.
3: I would like more if that darn fence wasn't there. I would clone out that arch in upper L corner. The shadows go all the way black, which isn't bad, but it takes away from the clouds and light
4: See my suggestions for 2 and 1
5: Get rid of the stray head behind the wave.
6: Im just not sure about this one. I get what you were going for, but it's just not overly exciting for me.
