My sister, the professional baker and cake decorator once told me that my camera takes great pics. My reply was that I thought her oven baked great cakes.

Really? I've seen a few offered lately and the pricing has been where it has been for a while. The 1Ds2 has been out of production so long I don't see these price increases affecting it much.

Adorama raised the prices on the 5D2 body and kit this afternoon to match the B&H prices. The kit is still in stock at Amazon for $3299.

Feeling quite secure standing pat with my 40D with fewer than 3000 clicks on it. I have to wonder how high they will go before the bubble bursts they go tumbling down to reality and how many tears will be shed when they do.

I wouldn't count on that. Even when the supply issues are resolved there is still the exchange rate problem and prices were going up before the earthquake.

I don't think that $999 price is going to last long. Also, right now you can buy the kit refurbished from the Canon store for a little more and sell the lens. They do have the body only listed for $799 but the body only has been out of stock for the last week or so.

I'm still kicking myself from not jumping on the 60d kit for $1079 before the "rebates" pushed prices back up. Really, really, really kicking myself. Trying to be patient for a day when we see that again, but it sounds like it may be quite awhile...

Maybe a new model is released before that happens?

Cheaper at Crutchfield, and shipped free anywhere within and outside of CONUS:

Maybe some lenses are still cheaper at Crutchfield?

Opps! Never mind; out of stock. I was told that they were selling like hot cakes when B&H and others raised the price.

I wanted to buy then, too! And didnt but couldn't hold off any longer so I bought at the $1299 price and couldn't be happier. This is such a nice camera (for me)! In the week I've owned this I already bought a 1.4 TC (used with a lens i already owned) and "nifty fifty"

I struggled with buying new or refurb and don't think you'd be disappointed either way.
